Why Video Works in Marketing
Most people read a description and move on. They watch a video and remember it. For a small business or growing brand, that difference matters at every stage of the sales process, from the first impression on your website to the follow-up email after a sales call.
Video content that's planned for specific uses, a product page, a testimonial, an explainer for a sales conversation, keeps working long after the shoot is over. The best video projects produce multiple assets from a single day of production, each one built for a different channel or moment in the customer journey.
This is the difference between hiring someone to shoot video and building a video content strategy.
Video production in action: Kent Outdoors - Aquaglide
"The final cut of propulsion video is SICK! Super professional, chock full of critical information, and extremely thorough. I knew it was going to be good, but WOW! Nice work to you and your team. The AG team should be super stoked on it, as it represents the brand so well and should result in increased sales (especially for BFA models)."

Common challenges this work solves
- Your product or service is hard to explain
- Sales teams repeat the same conversations over and over
- Customers have questions that slow down purchasing decisions
- Marketing content feels inconsistent or underperforms
- You need professional video, but not chaos or wasted time
Video works best when it is planned around these realities.
Types of commercial video work We Produce
Brand Story Videos
Used to establish credibility, explain who you are, and align your message across marketing and sales.
These videos are often featured on homepages, landing pages, presentations, and investor or partner outreach.
Product Sales Videos
Product sales videos are used by manufacturers and consumer brands to improve engagement on product pages and support retail and dealer sales. When done well, they reduce hesitation and help buyers make decisions faster.
How-To & Instructional Videos
Built to support customers after the sale, or when a product requires explanation.
Because they are educational, how-to and instructional videos often rank well in Google and YouTube search results and continue delivering value long after the shoot.
Client Testimonial Videos
Real customers explaining real outcomes.
These videos help build trust, shorten sales cycles, and support proposals and follow-up communication.
They are especially effective when paired with written case studies.
Short Documentary Films
Story-driven pieces that highlight mission, impact, or process.
Often used by nonprofits, outdoor and mission-driven brands, and any organization with complex or meaningful work to explain.
These videos focus on clarity and authenticity, not hype.
Commercial & Promotional Videos
Campaign-focused content designed to support launches, announcements, or seasonal initiatives.
These projects range from simple single-day shoots to larger productions with multiple deliverables.
How the Process works
Most projects start with a planning conversation to clarify:
- Audience
- Message
- Intended use
- Scope and timeline
From there, production scales to fit the goal. Some projects run lean and efficient. Others require multiple locations, interviews, or crew members. The approach is always intentional.
Experience and Approach
With a background in outdoor lifestyle, specialty retail, and commercial production, I work closely with clients to shape video content that fits their business realities.
I am often involved beyond execution, helping guide structure, messaging, and long-term content planning. Most clients are based in Sacramento, Folsom, and El Dorado County. I also work with outdoor, recreation, and lifestyle brands nationally, and travel for production when the project warrants it. Depending on the engagement, this can be project-based or part of an ongoing partnership.
When commercial video makes the most sense
- You need consistent, reusable marketing assets
- Your sales process depends on education and trust
- Your team needs tools that save time
- You want video that supports real business outcomes
If video feels important but unclear, this is usually a good place to start.
What clients say about the work
We had a fantastic experience with Scott Blankenfeld filming our business project. He was very respectful of our clients time and personal space and proved to be an excellent storyteller with his editing and technique. We were very happy with the finished product. He was finished way before we expected our video to be done and it has been very engaging for our prospective clients. We are very happy and our expectations have been exceeded.
